What this means in practice

Acta is not an official source
The official text of an EU act is the version published in the Official Journal of the European Union, and the authoritative electronic source is EUR-Lex.
Consolidations are reading aids
A consolidated text shows an amending act folded into a basic act. It is prepared for ease of reading and has no legal effect. Acta marks these is_consolidation: true and authentic: false. Only the original Official Journal text is marked authentic: true.
Hashes are not official
A hash identifies the exact bytes Acta stored at a point in time. It lets you detect that text changed, and pins what a rule was evaluated against. It does not authenticate an instrument and it is not a signature.
Acta is not legal advice
It does not tell you what the law requires. For any filing, decision or advice, read the official text or consult a qualified lawyer.
Coverage is deliberately limited
English only, EU secondary legislation only, in-force acts plus their consolidations and corrigenda. Treaties, case law and national law are out of scope, and Acta does not claim to hold every historical act.

Source and reuse

Acta's texts come from the Publications Office of the European Union, via the Cellar SPARQL endpoint and Cellar REST manifestations, and is reused under the Commission's reuse policy. Every stored act keeps source.url pointing at its official ELI or Cellar resource, and every API response names the publisher. Original manifestation bytes are archived so that a stored hash can be checked against what was actually received.

Reporting a problem

If a title, date, hash or article looks wrong, that is a bug worth reporting — the status page shows when the library was last refreshed, and the API documentation shows how to fetch the official URL for any segment so you can compare the two.
