Recitals

Recital 1

Pursuant to Article 9(1) of Decision 2013/354/CFSP, the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is authorised, in accordance with Article 38, third paragraph, of the Treaty, to take the relevant decisions for the purpose of exercising the political control and strategic direction of the European Union Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories (EUPOL COPPS), including the decision to appoint a Head of Mission upon a proposal of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (the ‘High Representative’).

Recital 2

On 25 June 2026, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2026/1479 (2), appointing Mr Felix ANDÅKER as Head of Mission of EUPOL COPPS from 1 July 2026 to 30 September 2026.

Recital 3

On 3 August 2026, the High Representative proposed to extend the mandate of Mr Felix ANDÅKER as Head of Mission of EUPOL COPPS from 1 October 2026 to 30 June 2027.

Recital 4

Taking into account information provided by Israel and by the Palestinian Authority, the mandate of the Head of Mission of EUPOL COPPS should be extended from 1 October 2026 to 30 June 2027,

Article 1

The mandate of Mr Felix ANDÅKER as Head of Mission of the European Union Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories (EUPOL COPPS) is hereby extended from 1 October 2026 to 30 June 2027.

Article 2

This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.

It shall apply subject to the adoption of a decision by the Council extending the validity of Decision 2013/354/CFSP beyond 30 September 2026.
